Does the City provide service for disabled residents?

Please call the City of Miramar, Public Works Department, Solid Waste Division, to request special service if you, and all other occupants of the residence are disabled. For more information please call 954-883-6832.

 

What do I do with large or heavy items for disposal?

Solid waste too big, bulky, or heavy to fit into the trash cart is considered bulk trash and should be placed out for collection on your scheduled Bulk collection day.

What do I do with appliances when they have been replaced?

Typically, the location you buy appliance items from offers free removal. If they do not; you can place white good materials such as stoves, washers, refrigerators, and other large appliances curbside for removal on your scheduled bulk-collection day.

Where do I put my household recyclables?

Residents should use the blue recycling cart for recyclables collection.

 

When do I place my cart out for collection?

Collection carts should be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Carts should be at least 3-5 feet away from your utilities boxes, mail- box, trees, gas or water meters, fire hydrants, cars, sprinkler heads, or any other damageable property. If you have an extenuating circumstance and need help with determining the proper placement of your collection carts, please contact Waste Pro for assistance at 954-967-4200. Do not leave the cart on the street where it may be stolen or damaged.

 

What happens if I or we move, what do I do with the cart?

The carts belong to the City of Miramar, and shall remain at the residence.

 

How often do we receive collection services?

Household trash is collected twice per week on your scheduled collection days. Recycling is picked up once per week on your schedule collection day. Bulk items are removed once per month on your scheduled bulk collection day.

 

What do we do about parking on our scheduled collection days?

Please do your best to accommodate the service vehicles by parking in a manner that provides safe access to the collection carts. If a vehicle is blocking (preventing) the safe collection of your carts, then the driver will not provide collection services at that time and you will not receive collection service.

 

My cart has been stolen, damaged or destroyed, what do I do?

The collection carts are property of the City of Miramar and must not be modified, altered, or abused. If your cart has been damaged, the following applies: If the damage is your fault, you will be required to pay for a replacement. For example, any cart that is destroyed by hot ashes or coals shall be the responsibility of the customer, and it shall be replaced at the customer’s expense. Do not leave the cart on the street where it may be stolen or damaged.

Carts are under the care of the resident. However, should the collection crew damage a cart, they are required to repair and or replace it.

How do I get rid of household hazardous waste (HHW) and Electronic Waste (E-Waste) such as paint, motor oil or computer monitors?

Do not place Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) or E-Waste (flammables, paint, poisons, motor oil, etc.) inside the cart.

The City of Miramar offers no-cost monthly drop-off events the first Saturday of each month at 17200 Pines Blvd. between 8am and 2pm.
