Henry D. Perry Education Center Recreational Field Project
Henry D. Perry Park is now open!
On April 13, 2024, the City held a Ribbon Cutting Event at the newly developed Henry D. Perry Park. The event was a family fun day to introduce the new park to the Community serving lunch and ice cream. In addition to the general public, several dignitaries were in attendance such as Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam, Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis, Commissioners Maxwell Chambers and Yvette Colbourne. Also in attendance was Broward County School Board Vice Chairperson Debra Hixon, Broward Schools Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn and Principal Kristin Baltazar and some of the school administrators. The City was also represented by City Manager Dr. Roy L. Virgin, Deputy City Manager, Kelvin L. Baker, Sr., and Assistant City Managers Adam Burden and Stephen Johnson.
This Park was previously the field of the Henry D. Perry Educational Center. It was developed by the City of Miramar in partnership with the School Board of Broward County. This project was taken on as a result of the upcoming development of the Parc View Townhomes Project at what is now the Perry Park/Wellman Field property.
This new park allows the transfer of current uses to the new site but making it even better with the additional amenities. The Park will be available to the public weekday evenings and all day on the weekends and holidays. The use is restricted to the students during school days.
The existing site now provides an open play field area, a 200-meter oval running track with a 100-meter straight away, a playground system, table tennis tables as well as a ¼ mile walking path with exercise stations. The basketball and racquetball courts were renovated. The park also has public restrooms and water fountains for park users comfort and convenience.
This project is part of the Historic Miramar Innovation and Technology initiative.
