Requirements
All applicants must:
- Be nineteen (19) years of age at time of application
- Be a citizen of the United States at the time of application
- Be a high school graduate from an accredited high school or have a GED
- Have the ability to possess a valid Florida Driver's License by time of employment
- Be of good moral character
- Have no felony convictions
- Not have committed any acts of violence
- Not have been dishonorably discharged from the military
- Pass a background investigation
- Pass a physical examination and drug screening
- Pass a psychological screening
- Possess an FDLE certificate or proof of comparative compliance (if certified)
- Complete and submit personal history questionnaire
- Pass a B-PAD (Behavioral Personal Assessment Device) video assessment
- Achieve a pass on the C.J.B.A.T (Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test) test
Required Tests
The Agility and Swim Test are required by the State of Florida of all applicants seeking to become law enforcement officer and are administered by the Broward College Institute of Public Safety Criminal Justice Testing Center.

Pearson VueThe Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test is administered by FDLE/Pearson VUE.
Agility Test
Conducted every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the Broward College Criminal Justice Training Center located on the Broward College Campus in the City of Davie.
Before you can take the Agility Test, Broward College requires you to have their standard medical release form signed by your personal doctor.
Medical Release Form
Cost $$40 - Paid directly to the Broward College IPS Criminal Justice Testing Center via their online portal.
If you sign up for only the Agility Test, Broward College charges an additional fee of $3.50. We highly recommend signing up for both the Agility Test and Swim Test at the same time so you will only be charged the Broward College online processing fee of $3.50 one time.
Before the Test - What You Need to Know
Broward College requires you to have their standard medical release form signed by your personal doctor. Your doctor must complete the Broward College form here. If you do not have a family doctor, Broward College will accept their form signed by a licensed U.S. physician from any medical center or your local Health Department.
Abilities Test
The Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test, or CJ-BAT, is administered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and an outside entity called Pearson VUE. The testing center is located at the Broward College Public Safety Building on BC Campus in Davie.

If you wish to take the CJ-BAT at Broward College, the test is only offered Mondays and Tuesday at 11AM, at the Davie Campus. If you wish to take the test at another location in Florida, please see options available on the Pearson VUE website when signing up.
