Crime Scene Investigation

The Crime Scene Unit responds to all law enforcement requests for crime scene processing and to assist the road patrol officers and the criminal investigation detectives. The unit consists of one supervisor and four crime scene investigators who process between 60 and 90 scenes per month. The unit is supervised by Michael Kelly who is a certified Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) and Forensic Photographer by the IAI (International Association for Identification).

Responsibilities

The Crime Scene Unit has three fully equipped vehicles to respond to crime scenes and a CSI laboratory for crime scene processing. The Crime Scene Unit is responsible for accurately documenting crime scenes, collecting and preserving physical evidence, identifying perpetrators, completing written reports and testifying in court
