Advisory Boards
The Parks and Recreation Department has two advisory boards that offers guidance to the department in order to enhance the lives of our residents.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is an eleven (11) member board, ten (10) appointed by the Mayor and Commission with each having two (2) appointees. The one (1) at large member is appointed by the majority vote of the Board members.
The Board was established to represent City residents and elected officials with all park related items. This includes issues that encourage and facilitate opportunities for residents to participate in recreational and cultural activities. Also to encourage greater and more efficient use of public and private resources for recreational and cultural activities.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meets on the 4th Monday of each month at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Teen Council Advisory Board
The Parks and Recreation Teen Council Advisory Board is a ten (10) member board, appointed by the Mayor and Commission with each having two (2) appointees.
The Board was established to represent residents at the middle and high school level with them providing input and feedback on City events and activities we offer our residents and peers of their own age. This feedback is not only from the board; however, it is from peers at the schools they attend. Along with this, they also share with us different events, shows, and entertainment they prefer to bring to the City for their age group.
The Teen Council Advisory Board meets the 1st Thursday of each month from September through May moving about at various city facilities, parks and restaurants.
