The Miramar Building Code Compliance Section is responsible for investigating all alleged violations of the Florida Building Code. These violations may include unlicensed contracting, unpermitted construction activity, or any unresolved issues related to applicable building codes. All reports are reviewed and investigated for validity by the Building Code Compliance Inspectors.
Building code violations may be reported by members of the public or by county and state agencies. Reports may be submitted through complaint letters, phone calls, or by completing the Building Code Compliance Form(PDF, 396KB).
Under the Florida Building Code, the Building Official is required to issue Notices of Violation and Citations. These actions may carry a civil penalty of up to $500 for any person, firm, corporation, or agent who begins work without first obtaining the required building permit. Failure to comply with a Notice of Violation or Citation may result in referral to the Unsafe Structure Board or the Municipal Court for further disciplinary action.
If you have observed or witnessed a building code compliance violation, you may complete the Building Code Compliance Form(PDF, 396KB) and submit it by email or mail to the Building Division Office.
