Public Project Updates

Community Library - Education Center

The City entered into a partnership with Broward County and higher education entities, namely Broward College (BC) and Nova Southeastern University (NSU), to construct a community library and education center in an effort to provide a variety uses for the benefit of the public at the Town Center site.

Miramar Cultural Center - ArtsPark

The development of Miramar’s first Cultural Center – Arts Park has resulted in a significant contribution to the cultural development of southwest Broward County by allowing the City to celebrate its rich cultural diversity through a variety of programs and activities.

Mass Transit Facility

The Town Center project houses a mass transit facility known as ‘Central Station’ that currently provides Miramar Shuttle service and eventually will also connect to three Broward County mass-transit routes and one Miami-Dade County mass-transit route.

Miramar Town Center - City Hall

Miramar Town CenterCity Hall reached substantial completion in August 2004 and a phased move-in commenced shortly thereafter. The City Hall Grand Opening Celebration was held in December 2004 with over 8,000 people in attendance.

Police Headquarters

The state-of-the-art, 65,000 square foot Miramar Police Headquarters complements the multitude of public uses that already exist at Town Center and adds to the 1-stop-shop concept for delivery of public services. The facility consolidates major police operations into a single building and also houses the City’s Emergency Operations Center. The facility opened in June 2016 and has received the U.S. Green Building Council’s distinction of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. Construction for the Miramar police headquarters commenced in earnest in December 2014. The ribbon cutting was held on June 15, 2016. Shortly thereafter, the building received the U.S. Green Building Council’s distinction of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.
