Edna LaRoche - Executive Assistant to City of Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam

Edna LaRoche is the Executive Assistant to City of Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam as well as the CEO of Oohlala Banana, an artisan banana bread baking company based in Broward County.   She created, hosted and produced The New Haitian Generation for seven years, a half hour program that showcased successful Haitian-Americans on BECON-TV, the School Board of Broward County station.  

Ms. LaRoche began her career with the City of Miramar as the Marketing Manager for the Miramar Cultural Center in 2007. A political junkie and former President of the Haitian American Democratic Club, Ms. LaRoche then transitioned to Mayor Messam’s office during his inaugural year in 2015. As the Mayor’s Assistant, Ms. LaRoche’s responsibilities include organizing mayoral initiatives such as Mayor Messam’s annual 5k Run and Health Fair, Aviation Expo and Chess Sessions among other such activities. 


A graduate of Dowling College with a degree in Speech and Theater and a minor in English, Ms. LaRoche worked at New YorkMagazine for five years before moving to South Florida.   For seven years, Ms. LaRoche held various positions with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel before leaving for other opportunities
