Commissioner Winston F. Barnes holds a Master's of Science degree from Florida International University and a Bachelor's degree from The New York Institute of Technology (Magna Cum Laude).
A proud long-time resident of the City of Miramar and Broward County, Commissioner Barnes is married to Andrea, and they are the proud parents to their daughter, Hannah. The Commissioner's mother, Beryl and nephew, Franklin, also live in Miramar.
Professional & Community Service
Commissioner Barnes is the News Director at WAVS 1170 AM Radio in Fort Lauderdale and is an adjunct professor at Florida Memorial University, Miami Gardens. He is also involved in activities in the youth department of Christway Baptist Church where he also serves as an usher.
Commissioner Barnes was elected to the City of Miramar Commission in March of 2003. He has served on a number of advisory boards at the Broward County level and is the recipient of numerous awards from various organizations for service to the community for the last 27 years.

In addition to making the time to indulge in hobbies like reading and photography, Commissioner Barnes also makes time to take dictates from his daughter Hannah. He is also an avid supporter of leisure biking as a way to get exercise, stay in shape and spend quality time with the family. He is proud to live in a city like Miramar with good schools, jobs, and a great quality of life.
