Que Pasa BBharts?

Friday, June 30, 2017 at 7:00 PM
$25, $30, $35

Que pasa BBharts? Is an allegory to the famous TV Comedy Show “Que Pasa USA” in which an immigrant Cuban family makes the audience live funny moments that only immigrant families live.  They relate to all the audiences from teenagers to the “Abueitos” (the grandparents), and how life changes as they try to adapt to a new culture in the USA. Que pasa BBharts brings back all of those funny characters with a twist, as we share what typically happens on our day to day at BBharts. A bilingual School of business and performing arts built to help students find purpose in life. Carmencita the gran daughter decides to go to BBharts while the grandma misunderstands everything she is doing and gets the whole family involved in a funny entanglement that will make all the generations laugh and relate to every single moment. In between each scene the audience will enjoy different dances from the 80’s represented by ballroom, Jazz, Flamenco, Hip-Hop, ballet, contemporary and even a life band! If you want to laugh and reminisce in the 80’s music and dance you don’t want to miss our cast of children ages 5-17 perform in Que Pasa BBharts.

Miramar Cultural Center presents
Broadway Idol

Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 7:00 PM
$15
$10 Students and Seniors (must purchase via phone or in person)

Broadway is in the house!  Join us for Broadway Idol, where local performers belt out their best Broadway showtune in front of an audience for three celebrity Theatre Directors.  It’s a rare opportunity for musical theatre actors and aspiring singers to “audition” for New York Broadway Director/Choreographer 2017 Tony Awardee Baayork Lee (A Chorus Line), Writer/Director Tony Honoree Gerard Alessandrini (Forbidden Broadway, Spamilton) and Carbonell Award Winning Director/Choreographer Ron Hutchins.  Auditioners and the audience will love hearing the judges’ valuable feedback and encouragement.

We invite performers, aged 18 and up, to participate.  Please send us a video (use private setting if the video is housed on a public platform like YouTube) of you singing 30 seconds of your best Broadway show tune.  Selection can be sung either with accompaniment (tracks or live) or a cappella. Video quality does not matter – a camera phone is fine.  From our pool of submissions, up to 30 people will be chosen on the basis of their video to participate in Broadway Idol in person on July 23.  Deadline to apply is July 10, but applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis.  Applying early gives applicants the best chance of acceptance.

This competition is free to enter and to participate – there is absolutely no cost involved.
